鳥の頭を象った注ぎ口と、輪形のつまみを持つ蓋付きのピューター（錫合金）水差し。ピューターは錫を主成分に鉛や真鍮などを加えた合金で、中世から近代のヨーロッパで食器や酒器の実用金属として広く使われました。胴に刻まれた等間隔の線文様は、成形後に旋盤にかけて刃物で筋を入れる「リーディング」と呼ばれる仕上げ技法で、当時の錫器によく見られる装飾です。 錫器の生産はギルド（職人組合）によって品質や刻印（タッチマーク）が管理されており、本品にもそうした金属工芸の生産体制の名残がうかがえます。落ち着いた鈍色の輝きに、長い年月使われてきた重みが感じられます。スイス、18〜19世紀。コンディション：胴回りに凹みがあります。詳細は写真をご確認ください。

Pewter is a tin-based alloy, typically combined with lead or brass, that was widely used across medieval and early modern Europe as a practical metal for tableware and drinking vessels. The evenly spaced lines incised around the body are the result of "reeding," a lathe-turned finishing technique commonly seen on pewterware of the period. Pewter production was historically regulated by craft guilds, which controlled quality and required makers' touchmarks — a system this piece's manufacture still echoes.
